Stanford University, Department of Pathology
Blood Center
Palo Alto

A two-story tilt-up office building was converted into a Blood Donor / Research Lab for the Department of Pathology. Project required all new utility services, including compressed air, vacuum, gas, DI Water, and extensive waste upgrades. The HVAC upgrade included a 200 ton chiller, a boiler, air handlers, and new exhaust fans for fume hoods. An upgraded electrical service consisting of a 400KW emergency generator, was added for increased loads.

The laboratories were outfitted with specialty casework that is fully adjustable & modularized.

An extensive effort was put into salvaging and reusing much of the existing demountable partitions, light fixtures, ceiling tiles, etc, from the previous buildout. Where possible, the existing HVAC systems were incorporated in to the new design. This worthwhile effort provided the client with unanticipated savings to the overall project budget.
