Building 6 provided a complete facility for Research & Development scale fermentation and provided facilities for both cell culture and microbial operations. Support facilities were constructed including media prep, harvest, counting and dispensing, equipment wash, staging, assembly, storage space segregated by various functions, a “control room” with two mass specs, servers for an historian function, and office/desk space. A shared 1,000L Fermenter and all utilities were installed that were required for the fermentation process, including industrial water, refrigerated glycol, RO water, plant and clean steam, process gases (CDA, O2, CO2, and NIT) process vacuum, ammonium hydroxide, glucose, CIP, and aqueous waste system.
