Pilot Plant
Emeryville
17,500 square foot construction of a new Pilot Plant facility for biofuel research and development. The project was delivered under a Design Build format in an extremely short time frame. Work included demolition and hazardous materials abatement of existing warehouse tenant improvements. The main components of the buildout included an H2/H3 storage and dispensing room, new mechanical room, support laboratories with walk in fume hoods, a glasswash facility, a 7,000sf open process area with duel 400L fermenters, a warehouse storage area, and new offices with a restroom and shower core.
As the prior tenant was a warehouse, the new pilot plant buildout required installation of all new utilities including a new 1600amp Electrical Service, new Gas Service, a 400kVA emergency generator, all new HVAC equipment, four California special boilers, a clean steam generator, Vacuum skid, Air Compressor, a Purified Water skid, and a waste neutralization skid. Special double contained underground waste piping was installed along with a special hi mist fire suppression and LEL system for the H2/H3 room. .
